Japan recession ext_3497940 January 30 2016, 00:39:55 UTC
A negative interest rate? That's pretty ominous . . . so yes the claim that the Japanese economy is improving is kind of laughable. It sounds like it's going to take some serious PR to convince the Japanese people that all is well and that it's safe to start spending again. I know that's how we felt when in the depths of the U.S. recession.

Indeed. Except, what we have in the wake of the Great Recession is not all that dissimilar to what was left in the wake of Japan circa mid 90s - lost decades.

Six years outside of the last US recession, and we have yet to even one year hit escape velocity, so to speak. Still on the morphine drip from the Fed and crutches - and yet, once again on the precipice of another US recession. Outside of the states, the world is probably now in technical recession. Will be very difficult not to succumb.

I'm not sure any amount of PR will improve this situation.

I like the idea of taxing banks for being to conservative with there cash, however, wasn't it banks being to free with the cash that caused the last global recession. It's a double edged sword that no one truly has the answer too.
