nope, no soft sign in Толстой, or even in толстый (which means fat) but for some reason I am always thinking there is one in both of those. But it turns out the only толь- words are толь (tarred roofing paper!) and только. So I dunno how we both got that impression.

I think your tongue rolls toward the back naturally when you go from 'l' to 's', so it feels kind of like a m'yaki znak. Страно.

I suppose it is a bit ironic, knowing recent events.
I really like this quote because he's going on about how important love is, which is always how I used to think, and then he says they're just thoughts, and too "brain-spun" which is also how I feel. Good ol' Tolstoy, always wrote something somewhere that's relevant.
