Hey guys, The Last Airbender: Now With 60% More White People is being released tomorrow. Can't confirm this yet, but I heard Karate Kid actually does address the title thing - the kid starts out thinking he knows karate because he took a couple classes at a mall dojo and then Jackie Chan shows him the beauty of kung fu, something like that. I'll let you know.

I've been laughing at Avatar reviews all day. Was thinking about making another post to highlight some of them. A few more of my favorites:

"An agonizing experience in every category I can think of, and others still waiting to be invented."

"Everything wrong on every level."

"I still believe M. Night can ruin the world."

As the English language simply lacks the ability to convey the badness that is this movie, I will now attempt to do so in Martian. Bee zahwah daka ulli kanadesh kara. Thank you.

I just started watching the cartoon and I've also been reading about the blatant white=good and dark skinned=bad in it and it makes me sad. I really wanted to see the movie before I started watching the show.
Torrent-ing seems like a good idea.
P.S. My Mom said Karate Kid was really good and recommends it to everyone! Enjoy!

Yeah, it's especially frustrating because the detailed and respectful portrayal of Asian cultures was one of the great things about the show. I'm jealous that you get to watch it now for the first time! The cartoon is really amazing, the best thing on American TV in ages. Enjoy it and forget about the movie.

Your mom's right about Karate Kid, too - I really do recommend it.
