Title: Welcome to the Jungle
Song / Artist: Welcome to the Jungle by Guns N' Roses
Vidder: shfan
Fandom: Starsky and Hutch (TV show)

Size: Large and small available
Notes:

Overall impression: This video gives a good introduction to the world of Starsky and Hutch and illustrates the grittiness of the underworld in which
Starsky and Hutch fight against. Beyond this illustration, it summarizes the downward spiral that this world sends both characters into as a result of their jobs (note: I've never really seen the show, but I know a bit about the arcs of both characters from the notes provided by a vidder for a previous vid I reviewed in the fandom).

Titles: Simple red on black at the beginning and end of the vid.

Music choice: The song really captures the city and times that Starsky and Hutch are working in and also characterizes both the characters in their world as well as the transformation of Starsky and Hutch. So much time in the jungle is bound to make an animal of anyone.

Narration, Tone and Movement: Narration is really from a third person POV as we explore the city and then see what happens to the two protagonists. The tone of the vid is very crazy and desperate, while being fun in certain places. Movement is fst paced and well matched to the scenes chosen.

Cuts, Transitions, Effects & Colouring/Coloring: The cuts and transitions vary between direct cuts, and cuts with flash effect. They don't detract from the story and instead carry it along and are well used. I don't know enough about the source to comment on effects and coloring, unfortunately.

Specific vid & music notes:
0-0:25 - I really like this opening narration, it really sets the tone of the vid and provides a great introduction for anyone who isn't in the fandom.
2:55 begins the part of the vid that chronicles the downfall of Starsky and Hutch into just two more animals in the concrete jungle.

Final notes: Shfan claims that their vidding abilities have increased since they first submitted this vid for review...if that's the case, I'm going to have to look up some of their later vids. Reviewing vids outside of your own fandom can be tedious and difficult sometimes, but this vid was really a joy to watch. On viewing, you can almost imagine that everything you see was shot specifically to make a music video to this song because that is how seemless the images and lyrics and beat of the music flow together. I can't really pick up on any obvious flaws. All in all, a vid I'd recommend anyone download even if they have no knowledge of the TV show.
