That is really promising on the job front. JJ is correct - in specialized industries like that their hiring managers will often call other companies in the same industry asking for referrals. Often what they are really doing is seeing if they can recruit from their competition, saying, "I have this job opening - do you know anyone who might be interested?" We do it all the time.
