My dad, as you know, was a minor politician in his time. A lot of the people he worked with, he absolutely loathed. Interestingly, the people he disliked the most were the ones who went on to make much bigger names for themselves. Pete Wilson, who was in County politics at the time, was pretty low on his list. He plummeted to new depths when he assumed governorship during my college years. Rodger Hedgecock was a nemesis of his as well. I think that ultimately my dad didn't stay in politics, which is his true love and calling, for one big reason: he holds grudges. You absolutely cannot survive in such an arena with this personality trait
