BRIGHT EYES! it's the best there is. try the song "lover i don't have to love" "something vague" and "Haleigh, Haleigh, a lie, Haleigh" there are a lot of bands out there that have gotten popular recently that are supposed to be "emo" but listen to their older stuff. it's always better. my favorites are on saddle-creek records. www.saddle-creek.com
emo could be anything really. it just needs to have emotional lyrics.
the early november is a really good band, they`re one of my favorites =) "i want to hear you sad"...everyone loves that song from them. if you like that song you should download more from them. all of their songs are awesome!
hidden in plain view "where the highways end"
something corporate "konstantine" konstantine..is about 9 min 35 sec..all worth it. a lot of people i know that listen to soco have konstantine as their fave song from them.
"you`re so last summer" is a another really good song by taking back sunday.
The Early November is definitely the best emo band I know of. My favorites: "Make It Happen" "Open Eyes" "Sunday Drive" "Baby Blue"
I don't personally get into Bright Eyes, and if you like TBS, I'm guessing you might not like Bright Eyes so much. But definitely give them a shot!
Something Corporate is awesome. I suggest: "Globes and Maps" "Ben Franklin's Kite" "Me And The Moon" "Walking By" and "Down" and "She Paints Me Blue"
The All-American Rejects have the same kind of poppy-punk sound, and some of the lyrics are really decent. The New Amsterdams-- check out "Idaho" and "I Will Never Run Away" If you like the older, mellow emo, then check out Sunny Day Real Estate, The Anniversary, or The Promise Ring.
Good luck in all of your "emo" discovering adventures, and you should post your final mix list-- I always like trying new mixes of great songs. :)
