I'm writing this for the poor sucker who gets stuck having to treat something like this. And a bit for me. I figure, if I have to go through this @#$ ... if I make notes like this, then maybe something good will come out of this.
And if I sound ... ticked? I am. This has not been easy. It's been hard as hell. And here are some tips I hope will make this easier for future patients. Of course, everyone is different. And I am no doctor. Always, ALWAYS, default to what your physician said.

Okay. One of the first things I ran into was wacked out electrolytes. I may have only had the runs 4-5 times a day, but I was ... weeing ... (I have to use that word. It's cute, and keeps me from being a butthead and using much more foul language.) about every 15 to 20 minutes. You need to nip that in the bud FAST. As that alone can put you in the emergency room.
My suggestion is to drink only gatoraide until your treatment is over. In my case, I opted to salt the crap out of my soup, eat bananas, and take extra potassium ... but gatoraide is probably safer. Drink lots. You need to be hydrated.

Next: you're going to really get vitamin deficient. Your stomach probably wasn't working properly before the treatment ... and now? It's going to be a giant sore. I was taking, by prescription, 3 multi-vits with each meal. And I added 1 multi-B to that. And on the third day, noticed my calve muscles were starting to feel really bruised and sore. When I paid attention to this, I noted that they were constantly having tiny cramps.
Jatina (a mutant who has a near perfect memory of all she's ever read on vitamins, nutrition and the research papers on this stuff.) told me to add 1 thiamine HCL a day, and the pain that had been getting worse for 2 days ... was gone in 8 hours after I took it. And it's stayed gone.
You need that form too. Many vits come in different types. Some much more absorbable than others.

Jatina has read that calcium and zinc in multivitamins and stuff like "Tums" can interfere with the Tinidazole. You do not want that. So when taking your vitamins, take them 2 hours AFTER your meds. You need the vitamins right now, but you also need that tinidazole to work. You don't EVER want to have to do this again.

Your doctor probably told you to eat very "soft" foods. TAKE HIM SERIOUSLY.
You are going to have food cravings. Probably because of the vitamin deficiencies. DO NOT GIVE IN TO THEM. Eat broth with rice in it. Have some bananas, and a little fruit. AVOID EVERYTHING ELSE.
It might seem like you did fine eating that piece of baked chicken. For about an hour or two. Then you'll spend several hours in a lot of pain. It is not worth it. Plus? Probably delaying your recovery. Don't be an idiot like I am.

I was warned that this can put you into the hospital. If you weren't, and you're fighting an infectious pocket as well as the amoebas? Stay on top of it. It's tempting to use heavy pain killers to block the pain, but my suggestion is to ride it through. You need to know if it's going south. Stay on top of it.

Edited to add ... you'd do best to make your own broth. It'll have more good stuff in it. And just in case you have zero idea how to do that? Here's a quicky recipe:
Take 1 whole body chicken and bake it in the oven. Organic if ya can, but Foster Farms is pretty good. Costco carries it.
If you've never roasted a chicken in the oven ... basically salt it, and put it in a greased pan at 400 for an hour and 15 minutes. Check it at the hour point to make sure the skin isn't burning. Cover with greased tinfoil if it is. (There are better ways to do this ... but it'll get it done.)
Pull off the majority of the meat and freeze it for later. You're not gonna want it.
Drop the bones into a big pot. Add about a teaspoon of salt or seasoned salt. Add some rough cut veggies, tops/skins and all (example: carrots and celery, avoid garlic as it's hard on the stomach). Cover with water, and bring to boil. Once there, drop to a bare simmer (keep checking) and cook for 8 hours. Check the water, and top off if needed.
Once done, cool and strain. Toss veggies and bones. Put broth in fridge.
Make a short grain rice -- lots.
When you're ready for a meal, heat up a cup or two of the broth with a few spoonfuls of the rice. Let the rice soften up a bit. And go to it.
