Hallowe'en Fixings (Party Tiems?)
My favorite time of the year!
After much thinking and torture and net-surfing, we have landed back at our original idea. The Captain and I shall be Tundra!Boosh for Halloween!
Of course there's no way I could find that coat, or at least not on my budget, and while I feel confident I could make a reasonable facscimile out of faux material (the only thing I'd be comfortable wearing anyway*), that's also not on my budget. (Do you know what faux fur goes for? Seriously. And anyway, I'd die of heat stroke.)
So I've found this coat and I think it's a good start.
I will add bits to it, and the rest of the ensemble should help. This is what I envision (plus extra fur-bits).
I still need, um, just about everything else. I know where to find more faux fur for boot things and the Captain found a hat pattern. I think I can find a decently close plaid shirt and scarf. The gloves look to be army issue, to be acquired from the Army/Navy Surplus. I am not sure if I will be sporting a fake moustache or not, but either way I already know where to buy one. I have no clue how to duplicate the snowy face makeup. I will also need (toy?) binoculars, and will probably borrow the Captain's voice recorder. Hehe.
(*Actually, I did find a real coat that would be a good start, but real fur creeps me out. And while looking around for extra bits to add to my coat, I found a full deer pelt. Ugh. No way.)
Of course the Captain is making hers, having found the *perfect* material and using an altered vintage 1970's jumpsuit pattern found at the thrift store (seriously, the pattern is uncut, from 1976, I think). She always looks awesomer than me. I need to learn to sew properly!
That said, because Halloween is on a Saturday this year, we're going to a party. :D The downside to this is that I will once again not be around for my "annual" Virtual Halloween party. HOWEVER, I hate to miss out two years in a row! I enjoy it too much, and we had a killer time in 2007! So, how about I have it a couple of days early? Say, Thursday and Friday, the 29th and 30th? Can I pencil you all in? Don't forget that there are door prizes in the form of bad poetry, poorly rendered graphics, and shortshort fiction!
