from the shores of the cosmic ocean, a mouse

Friday I went shopping with a friend and Kohl's had If You Give a Mouse a Cookie plush mice, and the profits go to charity. This was one of my favorite books as a kid! And I still love it. And while I bought him for my neice and intended to buy the book also and give her both, I have been snuggling him since ( Read more... )

I saw the Mouse on the news the other night, when they were doing a feature on gifts under $10, and he looked awfully cute.

He was only $5 at Kohls. As were the books, but they didn't have the Mouse a Cookie book, they only had "If you give a cat a cupcake" and "If you give a pig a party" which both sound cute (the plush pig was particularly adorable!) but neither are as simple a gesture (or as much a fond memory) as "mouse a cookie". And anyway, it seems pretty obvious to me that ifyou give a pig a party you're just ASKING for trouble. :)

I just mailed you!

The news here said the book was If You Take a Mouse to the Movies, I think. And whee! Going to look right now.

Awwwww! I love that book! :)

I'm now picturing a sequel... If you give a mouse the first episode of Car Saga's Cosmos...

Nifty! I haven't worked on a science project in ages. How old is your nephew?

You'd get this! Sort of.

He's 10. It's about how plants grow toward light. The experiment is all done and he had to write a report and such. He wanted me to dictate it to him. Then he wanted to get veryveryvery upset. So did his mother. It was not awesome!

...

That blew my mind. Woah.

Oh no! When he said "dictate it to me" did he mean, "you will actually write the report and I will physically write it down."?? That never ends well. :(

My roommate made that. There was going to be a whole series of wacky Bananamouse YMTNDs, but it never happened. She also had an Eels idea but I beat her to the punch with this one.

Yeah, he wanted me to tell him what to write. He just wanted to go outside and play. He kept saying "this is boring!" Photosynthesis is not exactly Indiana Jones, kid!
