She took in the scene warily, trying to adjust to this unexpected vision. The scents seemed real enough as they wafted to her, the hint of jasmine reminding her of her mother's perfume when she was younger. Taking a deep breath, she took a step closer to the woman--Jia, was it?--and returned her bow with an awkward one of her own.
Forcing her scattered thoughts into some semblance of order, she nodded slowly at the woman's insistent command. Just because her interactions with the first slayer had always been disturbing, enigmatic, and dangerous didn't mean that she couldn't learn something helpful from this one. Just ( ... )

Jia gestured gracefully to the surrounding area, to the low trees and vegetation that were thick and hazy with the orchid and jasmine fog.
“You once were here, and then were ripped from our embrace. You gave everything for honor, and for life. Now, you disregard the gift you have and choose to seek out pleasure.”

This had always been the time when The Slayers had gathered around, and listened to her play. Taking these brief few moments to relax, and focus on something beautiful once again. But tonight, the shadows were restless. The Flaxon Slayer was heere tonight. Soon enough she would face Sakura, The Nameless.

"Pleasure?" she repeated, infusing every strain of incredulity she could muster into the word. "Watching my friends get hurt? Spending every night slaying monsters that keep on coming no matter how many I get rid of? Being stuck here battling a former friend? Oh yeah, I'm having a fine ol' time."
She was silent for a long moment, fencing in the more hostile words that she wanted to unleash. It wasn't Jia's fault that she had touched on such a raw spot, but Buffy felt burned by her recriminations nonetheless.
