Who: Spike
Where: Basement, Hideout
When: Oct. 15th
invited: Xander

It wasn't often that the basement came equipped with a colonial billiards table carved out of of maple.

Overall, it was a nice setup, obviously some rich-body's toy room.  Fully stocked bar. Large screen television with surround sound.  Home gym. Sweeeeet...

Even half-starved and ( Read more... )

Xander walked in the room, it had only been hours before that he was down here with Dawn. He glanced in the direction, his anger boiling when he thought of her. Just to check to make sure she hadn't slipped her bindings. Eventually it would be her turn to pay.

He picked up a cue as he once again looked around the basement. The television was such a beautiful thing, its a shame there was no real electricity to speak of, or cable for that matter.

As Xander walked around the table, he watched the slender blond vampire. True, Spike had killed slayers before, he had all the women, he even dressed "cool", but something about him on the porch actually concerned Xander, although he couldn't place what bothered him. Maybe it was the lack of insulting, nah he probably just didn't want Buffy to tell him to get out of the hideout.

"So, how long you been playing secret agent man? We were pretty sure you were wrapped up as Will's toadie." Xander walked over, and set up the cue ball as Spike racked the balls.

Dawn finally woke up and discovered herself unable to move, or scream. She was in a tiny space and it was dark. She was freaking out. She calmed herself first, trying to remember everything that had happened, and then looked around as much as she could. She took in the surroundings and decided to see how she could move. Her hands had been tied behind her, close to her back pockets. She wiggled her fingers, slowly loosening the bonds enough to feel the top of her black lighter in her pocket. With two fingers, she managed, after several minutes, and numerous failed tries she was able to get the lighter in her hand. She prayed for a moment, and then lit the lighter, holding it to the bindings, and trying to block the pain of the heat of flame on her flesh. After ten minutes of this, she was able to wiggle free from the bindings, and untapped her mouth. She sat there for a moment, catching breath. She stood finally and tried to open the door and discovered it was locked ( ... )

The use of his name, abbreviated, momentarily confused the sleepy vampire who stared at Xander from beneath hooded gaze while maintaining a loose hold upon his pool cue. Wha?

blink blink...

Oh, right. He'd been undercover toadie to Red.

"Pretty much right from the time she went bad," William volunteered, thinking that some open courtesy at this juncture might go a long way toward mending bridges with Xander. Of course, he was innately polite.

Spike scowled. "Through Glory, I stayed loyal. Slayer was dead, and I remained true. You really think Red has anything to offer that could buy me?"

Rhetorical question. Of course Xander did.

Apparently, the boy had, along with all of the others. Even Buffy had had her doubts, and she'd been the one who'd asked him to do it. It was typical of the White Hats to make assumptions, and with him, it was always of the worst.

Spike removed the triangle from the balls. "Go ahead and break. You're gonna need the head start." He smirked.

Xander smacked the cue ball hard. He wasn't the best at pool, but he could do ok. He moved aside to let the vampire in.

"Nah, I didn't think Will..", there was a hesitation in his voice, "Could offer you anything you would want, except maybe a bit of fun."

Xander was feeling a bit bad for assuming the worst. After all, Spike hadn't done anything towards them for a long long time, and now with the soul thing maybe he was truly a good guy, and not someone who just took advantage of the situation.

Xander looked at spike intensely. "Does it hurt?.. You know having a soul?", he cringed a bit, hoping that wasn't too dumb of a thing to ask.

Xander watched Spike give up on the ball, normally Spike would have been all over the table, Xander did not doubt Spike could wipe him out without an issue. Now though, Spike seemed a bit listless.

"You ok Spike? I mean don't get me wrong, I don't mind getting a better chance to win and all, but you seem sick, are you physically ok?"

Xander looked at Spike, realizing that maybe that was another symptom of his identity problem. "Maybe there is a spell or something that could help." Xander's face actually betrayed a little bit of compassion for the vampire.

Spike stifled a yawn against his hand, and shook himself awake, managing to avert a face dive off the couch. "Oh, there's a spell alright, but it's got nothin to do with my soul," he answered, casting Xander a sharp glance.

So, the boy hadn't yet sussed out that something strange was affecting them all? Harris had never been particularly astute, but this was so obvious that the vampire had figured it could escape no one's notice for long.

"Something weird and whacky in the air," William explained, scorning his demon's arrogance. "For Buffy it's greed, I'm barely awake most of the time, Giles..."

He stared at Xander. "Nevermind 'bout Giles. Haven't you noticed anything odd going on with you?"

Xander looked at the vampire, and he thought about it, but no, he didn't feel any spells, this wasn't magic, this was just time for payback.

I have been angry, but this is long in coming, the bitches will pay.Xander's anger started to build again as he thought about it. The time with Spike had distracted Xander, but he remembered now. The dull thudding had begun in his ears again, he pushed it back down ( ... )

Spike arched his brow. Alright then... So the boy wasn't going to be the bitch's bitch anymore? Xander's words struck him as uncharacteristic, and the vampire's sensitive nose knew the scent of rage.

Sloth.
Greed.
Lust.
Now wrath.

William thought that maybe he discerned a method to the madness.

So long as it wasn't focused at him, Spike wasn't too concerned. "Right on," he intoned, watching dispassionately as Xander sank a ball. "You show them girlies. Gettin' your revenge on."

"Who is on your list?" William asked. "Just out of curiosity?"

As Spike continued his run, Xander could only stare at Anya, and hear his heart beating. He wasn't sure what to say.

"So Anya, how is the revenge business going?" was all he could blurt.

How could he have been such a jerk to her, he kept thinking back and flipping through his mistakes, each time they seemed larger and more obvious. He could feel his anger at himself building, he tightened his bandaged hand into a ball, letting the wound remind him of what he was responsible for

I will take care of that in the end, but I need to finish other business first he glanced back into the darkness in the basement, so much work to do before he could finish it. He started tallying his list, when he remembered Anya was there. The anger subsided and all he could do was stare at her, missing her.

"snortSNORTsnort- Caught in an embarrassing mid-snore, Spike's awesome vampire reflexes saved him from staking himself on his own pool cue. Largely oblivious to his surroundings, the vampire had to perform a survey of the room to ascertain that Anya and Xander were emitting hormones and making with the bedroom eyes.

Also, Spike thought that his unusually astute hearing detected the sound of mice scratching in the walls...

"Get over there and apologize while you're makin' an arse of yourself anyway," Spike told Xander, putting a hand on the boy's back and delivering a solid shove.

Self-conscious, wondering if he should leave...or at least offer to sleep on the other side of the room, William stared fixedly at the pool table, and took a lousy shot, which failed to sink a ball, thus ending the vampire's run.

"Great! Fantastic! Better than fantastic!" She told Xander enthusiastically, hoping he bought her up-beat assertion that the revenge business was booming ( ... )

Xander smiled as Anya became more upbeat. His attention turned to Spike who was falling asleep. Xander was worried a little bit, Spike was never this lethargic, obviously whatever spell he had fallen victim to was at work ( ... )
