I posed this question to someone, yesterday, and they weren't sure...so I'll ask you too!

I've watched this movie many times...including the other night. Did Tom Cruise have snaggle-teeth throughout the entire thing or just after the "rumble"? Because I remember before the rumble, when he was in the kitchen with Ponyboy, his teeth looked weird.

If they were bad throughout and those were his "real" teeth, I'm glad he got them fixed up! I'm not a fan of Tom Cruise but thank god he got those chompers prettied up.

It was his real snaggle tooth, he had caps on, but asked the filmmakers if he could get the cap removed as he reckoned steve would have been too poor to fix up his own teeth. then in the rumble, when he gets punched in the face, he spits out his cap. Brings more realism to a character. He also devised the tattoo Steve has.

but that's Tom for you, always very method in his acting even from a young age. The other actors were surprised at how determined and ambitious he was at that age.
