Fun fact: When Jeffrey Dahmer was in the Army, he was once stationed in Baumholder, Germany. The unit he was in was the unit my husband was assigned to when we were stationed there in 1999. The barracks building he lived in was scheduled to be renovated/torn down, so one of the Infantry battalions used it as the site of their haunted house fundraiser at Halloween 1999.
That haunted house was the best I have ever been to (scared the shit out of me and I nearly punched a guy at the end when he grabbed me), and the former resident of the building was represented. People used to tell stories about Dahmer all the time - mostly to scare the new arrivals, but it was interesting all the same.
It's a great old building - or was anyway. I don't know what's been done with it since I left in 2001 though. It's Hitler era (he built Baumholder as his artillery base because of the location and the gloomy weather that hid it from the Allies in WWII) and constructed of old dark grey stone.
Dahmer was discharged in 1981, and while the stories are varied about the reason why, Dahmer himself said it was alcohol/drug use charges. Some of his former company mates have confirmed that. There's some interesting stories floating around from Dahmer's former roommate in Baumholder, Billy Capshaw. A lot of what Capshaw says is BS, especially when it comes to shit that was going on in the unit at the time. Still, it's an interesting perspective into the killer's thought process.
Interesting! I don't know all that much on Dahmer. I tend to focus all or most of my attention on Bundy. I've watched some documentaries on other killers and the movie "Dahmer" with Jeremy Renner (who was awesome as Dahmer!) but that's about it.
I used to be really into the true crime back in the 90's, but my interest has waned somewhat. I took 006 because I go more for the stealth serial killer ref instead of hi, here's my mug shot! :D #40 is fun too. Thanks! :)
Never in my life have I seen a picture of Ted Bundy's daughter. Did that come from one of the books about him? I also did not know that Corin Nemec played Ted Bundy in a movie! I'm gonna look for that even if it does suck, 'cause I love Corin.
There are at least two photos of Bundy with his wife and daughter around. That particular one was posted on eBay for an insane amount of money and I think it was removed (but I screencapped before it disappeared).
As for Corin, I love him too...and can and will watch anything "Bundy"..but that movie almost put me to sleep..and that is hard to do!
Mansquito? I've never heard of it! All I've ever really seen him in was the Bundy movie, "The Stand" and "Parker Lewis Can't Lose"...if memory serves right.
as for more icons: definitely will make more, though I have some fandom and stock ones to do first! Stay tuned!
A friend and I are working on a community - killer_culture - where people can discuss True Crime vs. Fictional "Crime TV" and all sorts of other topics...I just created it so there's nothing to it yet but we hope to expand it quickly and soon. If interested please join and/or spread the word.
