The former. Making fun of something doesn't contradict taking it seriously; on the contrary, it really helps seeing things in proportion and perspective. Also, humor is sometimes a defense against things that are too horrible. Humor is very a powerful tool of critical thinking... and of thinking in general. ("Name of the rose" makes a much more eloquent case for what I was trying to say).
Oh, I am shy. It's very difficult for me to talk with people whom I like... in the beginning, I mean. I don't have many friends. But I don't have a problem with opening my mouth in general; it's only with some people I care about, but who don't know me well. I'm afraid I look awkward in such situations.
