Oh, I'm definitely not giving that crap out. But it's a good hack, because I can't log in until I give it up. So, no FB for me.

Hunh. I'm thinking it's either a hack or something Crave wants. I was gonna say maybe it's a new thing since I signed up on Facebook, but my mom (who is about as internet-illiterate as they get XP) got herself on FB about a week ago and didn't get any of that kind of thing.

When you tried to sign up with FB, did you go to direct to FB yourself, or was it a redirect from the Crave site? If it was a redirect, maybe try go to the Facebook site to sign up (if you still want to, that is) and then try to get into Crave?

At least that way you might be able to see which one of them actually wanted that info, and file complaints accordingly. 'Cause yeah, that type of info should not be a requirement to sign up with anything. >:(

I'm thinking it's either a hack or something Crave wants we at Crave.com DO NOT EVER want your phone number or any other personal information. yes, i really am part of the team at crave.com and i guarantee that it's not us asking for this stuff.

You can't' file complaints with FB. And here's the real catch: I can't even go in and delete my account because they won't let me go in until I give them either my phone # or my driver's license. So I'm trapped with no way to log in, and there's nobody you can contact on FB.

I also love it that I seem to be in the minority, in that no one else is forced to give up their phone number. Way to go, FB. How pretentious can they be?

Here's the real link to delete your account. I saved it, since it's kinda hard to find.

That sounds weird. I have a FB account and *never* gave them my phone number. I call phishing.

I do too. Except they're holding my account hostage. Nice discrimination there. Either they should do this to the entire site, or to nobody. My guess is, because I'm a new user, they think they can trick me into thinking that this is standard, required information. Little do new users know, we're being taken advantage of. So is this something they're doing recently with new people? Targeting is awesome.

i don't think it's really facebook asking for that. i've used it for over two years now and have three accounts (two for RPs) and i have never, ever needed or been required to give them any sort of identification for use.

and, as part of the Crave.com team, i can assure you it's not a scam on our end to try and get your personal information either. we don't need it or want it. i can tell you that we are working on an interface that will be functional without logging in via facebook, but i don't know when that will be up and running (and neither do the techie guys).

I'm glad to hear from someone from Crave. No, it wasn't generated by your site at all. I signed up at Facebook, and then was trying to send a note to another Crave member through FB when it kicked me out. Which really sucks, because your site is awesome. It just looks like I can't use it until I get this FB thing cleared up, if I get it cleared up at all. For now, I'm stuck.

Thanks for chiming in though. I didn't figure it was Crave, but it's good to hear you say it. I really look forward to being able to use the site without Facebook.

stupid Facebook. i really hope you get this issue cleared up somehow. (perhaps setting up a second account with another email address made just for that purpose? that's how my RP accounts are set up.)

i'm so glad you like the site so much, though! i'll pass that on to Erin and Cole (our benevolent overlords ~_^). and i also cannot wait until we can all use it without Facebook.

Yeah, phone numbers on FB, to my knowledge, have always been absolutely voluntary as part of your profile, not a required part of registration or something. I've never been asked to submit a phone number for my account.

Maybe it's something they're trying to enforce with new people. I'd love to see what happened if they locked every single FB user out of their accounts until they gave the phone number or their driver's license. That would go over big.
