Can anyone recommend a good messenger bag?

Wow, this is the first time I've been able to log onto LJ in a week. Seems like other people have had better success than I have, but then, other people probably don't use Safari ( Read more... )

I've always been fond of Think Geek's "Messenger Bag of Holding." Looks like it's out of stock right now, but it's pretty awesome.

I could probably find someone on April's Army that makes messenger bags, and would customize it. If I had a good pattern, I could make one, too.

I have a brown tweed one that I'm in the process of putting fannish things on. The first one (which is a laptop case, technically- I built it around a neoprene netbook holder) is the other half of the recycled brown tweed coat and has a tardis on it, and my boss stole it.

I carried the 1997 version of the Bean's Messenger Bag (Solid colors here, non-peace-sign prints here) all the way through college and for several years beyond (although I don't use it as much anymore). It held everything and LL Bean's stuff is built to last - mine just has a little wear on the bottom, and I'm really tough on my bags, I beat the ever-loving crap out of them. XD

Another brand I love is Kipling - it's the closest I've ever come to being a Designer Label Snob. I can only personally vouch for the Basic line, but I'm guessing the other stuff is as good. They're pricey, but they hold up really well - I stopped actively carrying my first Kipling bag after 10 years, and again, just a little wear on the bottom - and they're pretty good-looking. Also, the Basic bags each come with a matching fuzzy monkey keyring. XD

EDIT: Oh hey, the eBayers have some good deals on some of the Kipling messengers.

I LOOOOVE L.L. Bean bags. I have a backpack that's over 10 years old and still going strong, and a new leather purse that is da BOMB. They're on the pricey side, but they last FOREVER and/or you can get replacement if there's a problem.
