Mmmhmm!!! I wonder what kind of mint leaves are good for a Mint Julep. Because, you know, there are several kinds, apparently. Peppermint, spearmint, and uh...well, there are other kinds. lol
Basically, crushed ice, bourbon, simple syrup (1 part sugar melted in two parts boiling water), and three mint leaves... You're supposed to put the leaves on the bottom of the mixing glass, then pour one ounce of bourbon (can be replaced wtih rum, gin, brandy, or rye) and um, simple syrup. Then you mash the leaves up...and let the mixture sit for three minutes or so. After that, you gotta strain the mixture into a cocktail glass and top it off with the rest of the bourbon and a sprig of mint leave...and drink it with a short straw. It's a Southern drink reserved for the belles. ;)
