Can I possibly be the first to comment? Surely not!

Anyway, I really really want to know what happens next!

There are all kinds of things I like in this, all kinds of crafty things ("craftsmanly" expressed what I meant more clearly, but didn't seem appropriate) -- setting the scene, plausible bureaucracy, River being a somewhat more clipped River -- a soldier, not just an adventurer/ess -- and an ambiguous character, possibly a villain, possibly not. The poignancy of the dead Farnallax. The mystery.

This isn't shaping up to be a short story, though -- not by the usual standards of fic. This is a novella, at the least -- possibly an entire novel.

Yay! I'm enjoying this!

Ha, well, to be sure this is sort of a niche interest fic genre here.

As it's planned out right now, though, alas it is only a short story (6 parts, I am pretty sure). I'm not sure I have another novel-length fic in me!

I'm glad you're enjoying it, though!

This is quite lovely and wonderful. I'm so glad I happened across this fic. I like the pairing of an AU River and Rose. And I love that River recruited Rose, then snagged her for a partner as soon as her training was done.

I think the plotting and pacing of this story is really well done (and really, what's better than a mystery in space?), and I can't wait to find out what happens next. Excellent work.

Did I not comment on the first chapter? Sorry if I didn't. This is very intriguing. Normally I'm not one for vastly A AU's but this story's characters are still very much the characters we know. Just the circumstances are different... You have them down SO well.

Death and villians and implied sexy!times, oh my! Definitely curious to see where you take this.

See, I kind of like vastly A AUs (not, like "high school AU" or "they are all somehow lords and ladies in Regency England" typed AUs, mind) because parallel dimensions where the same people exist in slightly different circumstances is canon, and it allows my canon-compliance-obsessed self to explore some different stuff without my Inner Pedant going "NO NO ABORT ABORT NOT CANON TURN BACK!!!"

Thanks so much for reading!

That statement seemed to be, "I'm a pirate!"

This made me laugh out loud for real.

I have no idea what's going on, but I'm certainly intrigued.

This gets more and more interesting, intricate, and developed as you go along, even if this is only the second chapter. I very much enjoy how time jumps around, from Rose's training, to her recruitment, to her, seemingly, already established relationship with River. And then you introduce another character, add AI bots, and more of space disappearing...feels just like a really good adventure episode, only in written format.

All of the little pieces you include with each chapter are perfect set-ups and I'm curious how you'll include them all in the end. And, yes, I did see that nod towards what happened in Series 6. I know you mentioned something about trying to explain work around it so that too will be interesting to see. Great job.

I'm glad you're enjoying it and I hope the end lives up to the beginning for you. (Always a fear of mine when writing plotty stuff!) =D

Oh, I can understand that completely but, honestly, no worries. I'm sure it'll work out just perfectly and, even if you don't believe that it does once finished, you'll probably be the only one to notice! We're our own worst critic.

I'll just sit back and enjoy. :)
