I'm not sure I understand this rune at all. It does seem appropriate that Loki should be Icelandic, but as for the rest... I have never seen Kim rave, nor Bliss hack, nor Ethan trip! I think Raistlin is more likely to turn someone into two gerbils, rather than be turned into gerbils himself. And as far as I know, Mister Smith doesn't make a ( Read more... )

Grunting? I do not grunt. Perhaps they meant purring, or growling.

How have you been?

Grunting is not altogether dignified, and hardly suited to you. I should think it would be very impressive to see seven of you growling, however.

I am well enough, thank you. I'm pleased that you've come to visit me. *The unicorn clears her throat, or comes as close to clearing her throat as unicorns ever do.* Can I offer you a saucer of milk? There is usually one lying about here, and it has a way of replenishing itself. I have another feline friend, you see. I'm sure he wouldn't mind sharing.

Milk would be lovely, thank you. Is this your forest?

*She indicates with her horn the saucer, which sits neatly under a flowering white oak, as if it has been waiting there all along.* I do hope the ratio of milk to cream is just right. I understand that is a matter of exact partiality.

This is my home, yes. I have lived here for as long as I can remember -- which is a very long while, as you may imagine. I have had to leave it on occasion, but I always come back, and as soon as I can.

Just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean it wouldn't happen.

*amusedly* You are quite right. Though I must say, you don't strike me as the clumsy sort.

There's more than one kind of trip, my dear.

Is there? *curious* How so?

Mister Smith looked at the list with a bemused expression. "Well, no. I can't say as I've ever even seen a plum tree much less been in one. Not that I haven't been up a tree a time or two. But I'm much better at falling out of them, I'm afraid, than sitting in them."

Disturbed by the thought of Mister Smith tumbling out of any kind of tree, the unicorn trills softly. "I hope you will stay safely grounded, then, unless you promise to be very careful -- or unless you find a way to borrow Bliss's wings!"

"Never fear, dearest lady," he said with a gentle smile. "I don't often find myself up a tree these days. But if the occasion arises, well, I'll do my best to make certain there's a net underneath!"

White Fannyfae's? I'faith, I think even ivory would be pushing it a might with me! Me wings have been singed either by my own doing or that of others. I am far from "white" - if symbology be the approach! ;)

The whole affair seems rather absurd, doesn't it? Perhaps this will teach me not to bother with such runes again. Though I am curious... if you had to name a color that would suit you better, what would it be?

Fanny does not hesitate as she answers the Unicorn with a smile.

If the colour be of my choosing, I would choose the green of the rolling hills of the Highlands near Port Wrath where I am from. Tis the Green of the Forest, and from my Clan's tartan, too, Lass.

I love the green of the forest. I have been told that my eyes are full of green, the green of leaves and moss and still water, when I am away from my home. Unicorns may be the oldest and purest color in the world, but we dream of green.

Icelandic is...close. Nordic would be more appropriate.

But then, I am hardly appropriate. *grin*

How have you been, m'lady?

Quite well, I suppose. Conversing with cats, dropping in on dark mages... you know, the usual. And you, Loki -- you haven't been neglecting to inspire mischief and mayhem, have you?

That's good. Mmmmm...you have been busy. I wouldn't dream of it. The world would be a much more boring place if I were neglecting my duty after all.

*laughs* I'm glad to hear the natural order of things is intact. Just don't plan on bringing any mayhem my way, dear trickster. I may find enough of it without your aid.
