A world without consequences

Apr 07, 2005 15:34

If you could do one totally irresponsible or even bad thing with absolutely no consequences, what would it be and why?

Contrary to what you may suppose, I have had the opportunity to make irresponsible choices ... though both 'irresponsible' and 'bad' seem too gentle a description.

When I was a mortal woman, I might have chosen -- I would have ( Read more... )

Love does strange things to humans

Love itself is very strange. It's not at all like what I imagined it to be, before I was turned into a human.

I have not experienced it myself, but Liya has told me of how it feels. It is quite interesting to listen to

I hope you can experience it for yourself one day. I'm not certain how it is for a Tamnas, but a unicorn does not normally love. We can care deeply about others, of course, but it's not the same thing.

I wonder... Do you still love, Unicorn? Or is the emotion just a memory to you now?

*thoughtful* I still love. It's not the love I felt for Lir, but I believe that it is love nonetheless, and that it's far different from what I would have known as a unicorn who had never been mortal.

Though the more I see of love--the more I really see it, not just wonder at it, as I did before I became human--the more I think that my own experiences have only grazed the surface of what love can be.

"Lady Unicorn, it is a pleasure to see you again. I regret that I was unable to speak with you at Loki's party."

He considers her words, "Very true. I believe the consequences of love, and vengeance, are the driving forces of the world."

The unicorn seems to nod in greeting. "That is quite all right. I did arrive at the party rather late. The timing of such things tends to escape me, I'm afraid."

She studies Macbeth curiously, tilting her head a little at his words. "Vengeance, you say... I experienced many emotions during my time as a human, but the desire for vengeance was not among them. And I believe I should be grateful for that."

"Indeed you should m'lady Unicorn. Although vengeance motivates many, the only direction it leads people is in circles."

He shakes his head as if to clear it and continues, "But enough of that m'lady. It has been far too long, how have you been?"

It's plain to her that Macbeth speaks of vengeance from extensive personal experience, and although this makes the unicorn curious, she doesn't question him.

"I've been... busy, I suppose. These days I go out into the world quite regularly; it seems there is always a birthday or a wedding or some other such gathering to which I am invited. And I don't mind that. Though it is a relatively new experience for me, knowing people who think of me not just as some mythical, magical beast, but as a friend."

"I see." The unicorn tilts her head slightly to one side. "And what are your names?"
