yeah...someone was already giving me crap in the new haven connecticut community because water, clothing, and food should be a priority. She did say "no offense" in her post, but I can't help but think it was personal and she was acting on someone else's behalf (she is a DJ partner of our former DJ partner). Since she is a DJ, I find it hard to believe she wouldn't understand the collection effort.
I keep trying to explain to people, that, yes, they should to give the Red Cross or what have you first. Of course food and water are more important than music. But I don't have the resources to effectively raise money that way. This is a place with the culture of nightclubs and DJing being what they are, where I can step forward and perhaps do more of a top-level job, attracting more donations by way of the atmosphere of the event.
Basically, I can't host a $500 plate fancy dinner, but I can play some cool New Orleans' music to help you udnerstand and celebrate that culture, while encouraging you to give up some Players and CDs. Also in some small way I'm hoping to bring attention to the value of art.
...I say we go 12 better than the single and listen to the whole thing...I've only given a few proper listens so far but my goodness FF how well you live up to such lofty expectations, each tune sounds crafted with a sneer and perverse nonchalance, the kind a band might strut knowing they spawned so many imitators thereafter, dis is music worth dancing to and fawning over...maybe tonite then
( ... )
Really don't have much of an opinion yet on this new album. There is no denying it pleases, and the tracks #4 'Walk Away' and #7 'Eleanor Put Your Boots On' show a satisfying urge to further their sound.
Will have to think this one over, but it certainly maintains Franz Ferdinand's standard of above mediocre.
Hey, do you have any extra cardboard boxes you don't need which I might use for a donations box tonight? I've got a nice bucket for cash donations, but the cardboard box I found... I don't know, it's acceptable, but a little oddly shaped.

Track 6 of new FF is nice, the album has a lot of catchy tracks but it damn well better, being a major label release...
