Let me quickly write that Saturday's Hurricane Katrina charity benefit was so far from a success that along with the racism, homophobia, and elitism I encountered that evening I'd love to blame Bush for this country going to hell but just expect it is our overall natural inclination. in response to your two first paragraphs i can sympathize with a heavy heart as well as intense anger at those who made empty promises to the benefit i just put on. those who attended i definately connected with, however, there were quite a few people lacking in effort. i'm sorry.

Thanks, that does mean something. So many people I know organized stuff for the tsunami and we were all there. As we should have been. Yet now, no one.

I was doing some job interviews by phone today and I hate being a bitter naysayer, but this acceptance-love of incompetence and dis-empowerment is ludcrious.

Going back over the novels of Charles Dickens recently, I got loopy at how much their depection of what would later be seen as the fall of Pax Britanica could so easily be Pax Americana. This is the one place where I am happy to be called a fascist, but screw me if I don't want to lose and fall.
