New Orleans

Wow. Just wow.

It's so sad to hear what happened in New Orleans. Just when everyone thought it was over, BAM! there goes their whole damn city. Not to mention the rest of the Gulf. It was a fucking category 5 when it hit Florida.

Makes you wonder why things happen and why they happen when they happen. Funny, it's pouring outside right now.

It was a national treasure, really. The head of rescue operations said that this storm had haunted his dreams for years prior to this, and now it's finally here. Some people don't want to leave their rooftops, some people are crushed under stuff, everything still accessible by a person is being looted, the people that are injured don't have a hospital near enough to go to, and they don't know what they're going to do about it. Apparently, it wasn't a terribly clean city in the first place, so now that the drinking water/waste water/whatever other water is drowning the city, there's gonna be disease a-plenty around there. It's the big one, guys. Definitely the big one.

and today in the paper there was a picture of a Nat'l Guard guy wading around the city with a shotgun looking for looters.

Well they evacuated a lot of the people, so things are improving. But not by much.
