I am resigning my job at Pedal People, selling most of my things (except the shiny and useful objects), and moving out of Bates St on June 30th.

Yippppeeee!

Oh, and then going to start a cross-country cycling tour next weekend, ending at the Pacific Ocean somewhere.

(I've never done something like this.) I'm doing this!

bicycle, pedal people, jobs

Indeed I will - I expect to be reaching Oregon/Washington area in September sometime, not sure where I'll live and work this fall winter out there.

What are the current border crossing requirements for by-land? Do we need passports now?

You need either a passport, or one of those enhanced drivers licensees (not sure if you can get those in every state yet? I know that my family from OR went that route, though).
If you make it to BC, let me know too; I'm in Vancouver as of late.

!!!

Do you have contact info for while you're on your trip?

Also, I think you may be able to cross the border with just an ID and birth certificate? I was a poster in the Greyhound when I went to Montreal but it could've been outdated.

You need either a passport book, or a passport card (looks like a driver's license, acts like a passport, and is good only for crossing to Canada or Mexico). Up until 2007 you could cross with just a birth certificate, but the US/Canada open border policy was reversed at that time.

Congrats on your trip, it sounds like an amazing adventure!
