I dunno, I would hazard to say that the native blockaders *were* pretty unambiguously in the wrong. If anything, the media has under-played some fairly aggressive actions on the part of native protestors: burning the van, tearing down the hydro tower, vandalizing the power plant and not allowing repair crews in (until this afternoon), etc. Keeping in mind that a good chunk of the non-native blockaders were/are lunkhead idiots, I'd say that the non-native response was, if anything, to be expected in the face of that sort of provocation. I would have been PISSED if I lived there.
i would be pretty frustrated too, though, if the only way i could possibly get the government or media to even care enough to listen to my concerns was if i caused massive property damage. there's a reason we only hear about the problems these people face when there's outbreaks and protests - we don't care until they're costing us money. seems a bit more ambiguous when that's considered, to me. especially if someone is trying to sell their land, to boot.
