You know, I really didn't think about it the other day... But if you arrived here at a certain age, and you have two birthdays while in the City, how old does that make you? And, if time really stops for you back in your own world, are you still the same age when you go back, or do you really have to go backwards to be able to fit again ( Read more... )

I think I'm in rather in the same situation as you when it comes to age. I arrived here when I was seventeen, had a birthday in the City, and then left before my second birthday in the City. And when I returned to my world, I was seventeen again and I presume that I was still seventeen when I came back into the City. Unless I'm nineteen and I don't realise it.

I'm not yet sure how one ought to think of it, really.

It's pretty odd, at very least, especially if you've gone and come back again.

It's almost as though you have to keep two counts: your age in the City and your age at home.

I think it's like you regress in age. At least, whenever I went home, I didn't feel any older, despite being 16 when I was here before going home and then being 17, now, when I'm back. I have a birthday in April that'll make me 18 if I stay here, but thinking about being 17 again when I go home is just one big headache.

What's your favorite flavor?

Seems to be a problem everyone here has, but hasn't really thought about.

Not sure, really. Probably chocolate.

I think it's just easier maybe to not think about it. So much of what people do in this place anymore is about avoidance.

Noted.

[Ron, if he cannot find and thank Luna immediate upon finding this dessert, will tack a thank you note to her door. It will also inform her that he's saved a large slice in the fridge for her.]

That sounds like a really hard word problem, and who wants to do math on their birthday? If it's worth worrying over, it can be worried over later, when there's less cake and presents and anonymous wellwishers.

Oh, I'm the last one. Harry Lockhart's the name, your birthday is the game. There's been a lot of those lately, by the way. Birthdays, not games, I mean.

... Harry Lockhart. Right. I'm Ron Weasley.

Mine was on the first, actually.

Ron Weasley. Right.

Oh. Must be a little belated, then, but really, it's all the same here. At least you weren't cursed for it. Or were you? Either way, it'd be a pretty lame gift.
