Tell me something.

What is relative sanity? If the sane man is surrounded by an insane world, yet that insanity is the norm by the standards that surround him, then what weight does his sanity have?

Also, if anyone knows the game of chess and wishes to play, come find me.

Chess gets pretty boring when you can forecast all possible outcomes of every move before they happen.

Undoubtedly. I'm sure God has become very bored of playing it.

Sure, him too.

Oh? You're implying there exists someone else who is entirely omniscient?

It was Lelouch, wasn't it?

Well, the person himself would probably be considered insane in the place he's currently on, but that doesn't mean he has to change. I learned the hard way that being kind and helpful really doesn't net you many points with the people in here, but as long as you consider what you're doing the right thing and you're not hurting anyone, then it doesn't really matter what the others think of you.

In any case, I don't play board games very often, but I'll be glad to give it a try if you need someone to play with. My series is all about tactics, so I can't be that bad, right?

…Thank you for your opinion.

The game is relatively easy to learn, but difficult to master. I suppose I could teach you.

No problem. If you need anything else, feel free to ask.

If it's okay with you, sure, sounds good!

All right. Come by my room whenever, I haven't much of a schedule.

At the moment.

*picks up a pawn*

These look familiar... I know in Regicide they move forward only and capture on the diagonal. Is it the same in... chess was it?

Yes, those are the functions of a pawn. It may be the same game, though with a slightly less violent name.

There are similarities then, even if I don't believe I recognize some of these pieces. I would enjoy a game, if you are still interested.

Yes, whenever. My free time is not often better spent.

Once a pair of Buddhist monks stared up at the branches and leaves swaying in a constant, heavy wind. They were having a philosophical discussion.

"The tree is moving," was the stance of one monk, while the other monk insisted that, "the wind is moving," and while these two monks went back and forth, their master came upon them and struck them both with a single swipe of bamboo, declaring, "Your minds are moving!"

Ha…

Yes, I suppose that is applicable, isn't it.

The moral of the story is that everything is relative and it is our own mind that assigns meaning and names, which only cloud the true form, meaning and significance of things. Rather than contemplate the weight of your sanity, accept it for what it is and put your mind to more enlightened thought processes.

I wasn't aware that they employed philosophy professors here in the Netherworld.

Hmmm.. well.. if being insane is normal, then technically the sane one should be the one out of place...

Are you feeling that much out of place here? You know you could always try social reform to make the place more like what you want it to be!

I've always wanted to play chess, but the Chess club at Evil Academy only had half of a board and 6 pieces so I could never play a proper game.

The question I posed was merely hypothetical.

It sounds as if your chess club had a limited budget.

Yeah.. We tried to raise funds before but they just spent all of the money on candy... and a checker board..

Although I did find a 7th piece in a zombie's nose.. but it still wasn't enough to play a game..
