It seems as though we've had a number of new arrivals here in the Netherworld. For those who don't know, my name is Lelouch. If you have time, I'd like a chance to speak with any of you. You can find me in room 106, and if you have any questions, I can certainly answer them ( Read more... )

Quite. The bill I proposed would have passed if a stupid pig hadn't pushed the wrong button, too.

[His WTF face is quite pronounced.]

…Could you please explain what happened in more detail? It's very important that I understand exactly how the Dark Assembly functions.

I came in with a detailed proposal and a small set of gifts... Watching a few bills, it was obvious that bribes would be needed. Also, bills shouldn't be too long - several refused to read the entire thing initially.

Some deliberations, assisted by judicious application of the gifts and a verbal deal to offer photos of myself to one senator - not something I planned to honor of course - made things look favorable... Indeed, my judgment of people's interest was pretty much spot-on.

Unfortunately, it seems that the voting systems are not idiot-proofed. One person who had voiced total support - the one who was offered the photo bribe - hit the "No" button on accident, screaming as he realized what he was doing. Bill failed, and I was advised I could try browbeating the senators into a "Yes" vote.

That ended poorly.

So you're saying that the personal desires of the senators are an integral part of the process, and that discerning those desires is somewhat simple. I suppose I won't need individual profiles, then. That, and I should keep the request brief and simple.

…What happened after you tried to force the bill, Kallen? Are you all right?

Chess is a well known, strategy-based board game, played both casually and in competitive forms.

…What kind of being are you, exactly?

Wow, you seem awfully nice and helpful.

Are you going to hand out leaflets next?

the_worlds_sins August 13 2009, 09:50:33 UTC
Certainly. Perhaps you could make them for me, since I am preoccupied at the moment.

I would, but I don't think that I am pompous enough to do you justice!

Nor socially adept enough, I would suspect.

I suppose I do owe you a game. White or black?

I appreciate it.

Black, I think.

That's right. Most players see it as an advantage.

I do hope you have some tea for your invited guests.

I suppose I could prepare some.

That would be the most polite thing to do. I will take whatever you have.

Now, are you a normal human, or one of these demons that are running around?

[He starts getting the tea ready, preparing it quickly and quite well. Such household tasks are one of his strengths.]

No, I'm fairly certain I'm not a demon.

At least in the traditional sense.
