Wow, that sounds like a horrible class. I'm a little luckier - my teachers prefer the Socratic method, so we all generally have a good time arguing and debating. That's the best way I learn anyway, aside from hands-on. I can identify with the reading though - I have about 400 pages to read each weekend.
If you're looking for detailed writings like journal articles and such, skip Google itself. Instead go to Google Scholar. It limits itself to published articles. Other good sources are OIAster and Keotag (we just had a class last week on how to do research, so it's all fresh ;-) ).
Well, the second one being an internet class makes the format a little trickier, I think, but I still say we could get more feedback from the teacher. Last semester I enjoyed my teacher's lecturing style. He was very conversational and fluent, but he'd stop and answer questions if you had any. Oh, well.
400 pages is a lot! What classes are you taking?
Larger class size may be part of it as well. My college is experiencing record numbers this fall.
Thank you so much for the references! I'll bookmark them and use them next time I have to do internet research.
lol I'm doing a two-year MS crammed into 10 months, with a thesis thrown in just for giggles. Hence the massive reading (and writing) load - each semester crammed into a quarter. It's overwhelming, but fortunately it's my only "job" for the next year. And my class size never exceeds 20, so the conversational method works. I do remember back in the day having a class held in an auditorium with ~500 students... it was nuts; you had to make appointments to ask questions

I never thought of using delicious.com. I'll definitely keep that in mind, since I share a computer with three other people, that might be helpful.
Thank you again for the help!
