Feeling restless and insecure about my writing today. I feel like I'm turning out dialogue with little narration and redundant exposition. It needs more action. I don't want to write something boring. Things are about to pick up, plotwise, though ( Read more... )

Ignore the spelling correction, the computer disagrees with 'grey' as well.

Do not erase! That's entirely the point is to forge ahead and write for quantity. I know I've gone back through what I've written but it was always adding, never subtracting. If it makes you feel better to jump ahead then by all means go into the part you're excited about writing and go back to fill in later. The point is to keep moving, writing-wise. I've stagnated after going back to fill in on the weekend and now it's tricky to push myself into it again.

Don't worry, I won't. I'm just whining. I probably feel worse about my writing quality than is really warranted. I hope.

It looks as though you're not the only one. I just now caught the post on Dina/Courtney's journal.
I've actually been writing fairly steadily for a couple of hours. Do you think 17,665 is enough? I've lost track of where we're supposed to be, but I'm just now getting lunch and my head feels... unpleasant. Sinus infection unpleasant.
I think your writing is excellent. I can see that it's a rough draft but thus far I've found it very readable. To have redundant material is a good thing at the early stage, because it gives you something to extract from and condense later. Something may be put better in one speech than in another, and being able to pull material from both for a final single piece of exposition is more likely to give you the best finished work.

Well, if you're aiming for 1700 words a day, you should be at 18700 today. So you're only a thousand down and that's easy enough to make up.

You're sweet. *HUGS* Thank you, that makes me feel better.

This is in reponse to the posts about Nano as a whole. Binak, your writing has always impressed me. The good part of Nano is that it makes you get a piece closer to done. The bad part is that while doing so, it forces you to run roughshod over sections you may want to add some love to. A big thing in my writer's group is that everyone SAYS they will go back over a section, and never do.

Always remember this, Binak, your writing is magical and don't you forget it. You've managed to make me laugh, cry, shiver, and you've pulled me out of bouts of depression with your writing. Keep your chin up and, after you get your work done and eat your veggies, go back to writing! You are fabulous!
