My Father

Today is the 37th Anniversary of my father's death. He was 49 years old when he died. My oldest sister turned 16 the following day. My mother was 42 and left with 7 children ages 15-6. She did a great job raising us. We lived by the example both of my parents set for us. My father was not only an amazing father, he took time to coach and ( Read more... )

(((HUGS))) He was apparently an amazing person, Thea! Thank God for all the people like him, with whom presence we are blessed no matter for how long. They are the salt of this Earth, and all the better when we share their blood and genes. May he rest in peace! It's obvious he was doing the best job not only while walking on this Earth, but with the memories/legacy he left to his family, too. A life well lived! I hope more of us can have the same said for them at our time.

Hugs from me, Thea, and may the love you share with your Dad always keep your heart warm and safe!

Your father seems to have been a very special person that you remember such wonderful qualities about him -sharing, caring for others, tolerance, love. It must have been a most tremendous loss for you all but your mother sounds like an amazing person as well. Both she and your father set a wonderful example for all of you.

I live close to where I grew up. At least once every few years, someone will come up to me and tell me a story of how my father helped them. He died nearly forty years ago. His life was truly a legacy. Gentle and kind, did for others for the right reasons. He wasn't money rich, but he was wealthy in many, many different ways. He taught us that it is more important to be generous with your time and your heart. I know he lives on every time one of us (his children) try to live up to his example.
