I really love soccer, but the idea of sitting on the bench is repulsive to me. You said you've already played and had to do so, so I don't think the resume thing is a problem.
I tend to think don't play, work the good job, and try to play in a league or with some people you might know. I'm sure that there are indoor leagues and such things you might be able to get into, and if not there are other ways to stay in shape. I say this only because I think warming the bench is retarded; its the thing I've always hated most about higher level sports.
Keeper is pretty cool though. I never got to play it in all my time playing (which sadly was mostly grade school) but I always wanted to...I've been meaning to look for some kind of league for years now but have never gotten around to it. Man I miss it sometimes...
basically this is gonna be your last chance to play a real, team sport. and if you love playing enough, its gonna be worth it. plus you're body will be rock hard.

I say do it. it was pretty effing cool knowing that you were getting the gear, practicing in the weather, and goofing off with your teammates. I can't say that I'm much of an "athlete." *air quotes in a very homosexual way*
you would HATE yourself if you didn't play soccer, and getting the job doesn't seem worth it to kick yourself for a long, long time. plus, you really do blow off steam. you're much more chill when you're doing something like that (and it might just be fatigue, I don't know). and you get good tan lines.

I say get the job and play soccer whenever. you could really pull off being just a peripheral team member by showing up to some practices and a couple of games, but then you'd be able to go home when shit was tough. it would seem much more voluntary than if you decided to actually play. it seems like your coach would want to just pull you on versus "allowing" you to play sometimes and then ignoring you the rest of the time. it would be much more open-ended and "I don't give a shit" on your part.
AND it's probably wise to start thinking about the car and just working in chicago in general. you never know, you could be working there for years, and it'll all start now.
and the tan lines you get in soccer are horRENdous.
okay it took a while to figure out sylvia post.... (wwhhhaaaa???) but i kind of feel the same way, with the both sides thing. I, well i just thought i knew what i was going to say but then i read a bit of sylvias second post (bc its on my screen) and i changed my mind.
it would be chill if you could get a job at a law firm if your still thinking about that for grad school as like a secretary or something.... its amazing how much i learned their just by doing bitch work. plus, having lawyer friends is tight for later in life. definately.
