Happy New Year! How's 2012 treating you all so far?

I will post my resolutions (both past and new) in a few days, because my mum's visiting, and I won't have time for a detailed post until later. In the meantime, have a poll!

Not sure which is the worst, but thumbs (mostly) up to research! [My research area isn't biology, but one of my best friends does bio-chem research, and she'd agree to the thumbs (mostly) up]

Thanks for the input! It's heartening to hear that. I don't know if I would like research, which is why I'm hesitant to get a Ph. D., but I really don't know what else to do with a degree in Biology. I managed to get myself a useless degree and am working on another one; woo. Also, I am crying right now, because I found the perfect program for me after my master's that doesn't involve me jumping straight into a Ph. D. But the problem is that I'm not a US citizen, so I don't qualify. This is like, legitimately one of the few times I am sad about not being a US citizen.

Okay, this pairing exists only in fic. And in my mind. So, Katie/Effy.

Katie isn't under any illusions. She's always known that Effy has never truly considered them to be friends, but when she's seventeen, that doesn't matter so much. Effy is pretty, and Effy is cool, and as long as everyone else thinks they're friends, that's... enough. They lose touch after Roundview, which doesn't surprise Katie (who packed her bags and left for London the first chance she got).
