I made pineapple flavored cupcakes with homemade buttercream frosting and homemade marshmallow fondant for decoration. Let me start by saying the marshmallow fondant was a real pain in the arse. so so cute! except one-eared bunny, he's just kind of sad ;)

I've never tried to make fondant so now you have me even MORE curious about working with it...

Apparently the fondant that you buy pre-made (ready to roll, or the mix) tastes like crap, and homemade marshmallow fondant is the way to go. Next time, I'm going to follow the recipe I found, no shortcuts (my fondant tasted good, it was just a royal pain the rump to work with, probably because I didn't follow any directions, so take note: marshmallow fluff plus a crapload of powder sugar, does not a fondant make---lol, seems so obvious seeing it written out).

It'll be a sticky, messy process, but I look forward to trying again (proper)! Oooh, my boyfriend's birthday is next week, so the perfect opportunity is coming up.

I just made marshmallow fondant for the first time this week. I posted photos of my cake on my journal if you want to see. If you follow the directions, it turns out wonderful and tastes great.

:-) I had an inkling that you'd appreciate the cuteness of cupcake bunnies...

I didn't want to eat any of them (so sad)!
