So I got a laptop for Christmas. Likely a Dell one, though my mom and dad said that if I want a Mac, I could get one-- I'd likely want a macbook pro, which is super expensive, and I could get better rough specs on a Dell for much cheaper. HOWEVER, I'm not sure if that's worth it ( Read more... )

And I don't mean to sound stuck up-- I'm very lucky, I really need a new laptop and I didn't even ask for it. My current one serves me well but has been having a lot of problems.... I like how good Dell is about fixing the laptop if anything were to happen to it. The Macs are nice and light, but again, the specs. Brian says that overall the quality of the product of a mac is better.

Are there any people out there that are both Mac and PC people?? So I could get an opinion that isn't somewhat biased? :D or maybe people should just give me lots of opinions! Hah!

You could setup a Mac to run both if you wanted though I am not sure about running a Mac on a Windows pc.

If it helps, I think there's a plug-in for Firefox that puts a reminder in your status bar. I don't know if you can list more than one thing, but it's kind of close to a to-do list? Haha ♥

Personally I'd go with a Dell, but if you think a Mac would have decent long-term potential for what you need it to do (as in, if everything you use the most is Mac-compatible) then go with that! :D Do you know anybody that has a Mac that you could try out for a little while to see how it feels? Since you already know what a PC is like and all? Unless you totally do know the ins and outs of a Mac, in which case, disregard this! :D!

Good luck on choosing, and congrats on the lappy! :D

Hey so PS I'm just seeing this entry but I thought I should mention that the To-Do app I use isn't a native Mac app, it's developed by a 3rd party developer. (http://www.potionfactory.com/thehitlist/)

Other good options:
http://culturedcode.com/things/
http://www.omnigroup.com/applications/omnifocus

The Hit List doesn't yet have an iPhone/iPod Touch app, so that's one reason I've heard good things about Things. But that's not an issue yet for me and there should be an app within the next few months...

Yeah, I knew that it was a 3rd party developer, but it still was a mac only program. All of these are mac. Thanks for the link.
