a rant on the stupidity of politics

Note: Normally, this being my livejournal, I feel rather free to say whatever the hell I feel like. However, this rant will contain discussion of a rather touchy subject, for numerous reasons and numerous people on both ends of the spectrum. Therefore, I will try to keep my personal views of the subject out of the matter and focus on the problem ( Read more... )

That was an extremely well-written and well-thought-out rant, mate. You did keep it completely subjective and made several extremely important points. That was really refreshing to read. Thank you.

Well, I'm pretty sure I can guess your stance just due to the nature of the material being discussed - i.e. that you were interested enough in this issue and the facet of it that concerned this guy's decision-making. That's not to say you weren't objective about the actual content; I'm just inflating my own ego to use as a flotation device.

That bullshit being said, I kind of think every decision is based on some sort of prejudice, whether or not the prejudice is obvious or of concern to anyone. Just the fact that people believe they're living in reality is based on sensory prejudice.

I find all politics to be extremely stupid. I'm not sure if that's what you meant, but if it is, I'm agreeing with you. And if it's not, I'm agreeing with me.

One last thing - you're damn right that there's something flawed about that guy's logic.

I hate saying this outloud, as I am worried it might be misinterpreted, but I have to at this point.

The religion I can't stand the most is Christianity. Or should I say, the incredible hypocritical culture that it has become...

See, it's not Christianity itself I can't stand. It's never the religion itself, because I think by nature most religions preach good things. However, I agree with you that many people who use Christianity or Catholicism as their life and lung and reason for everything have gone a bit crazy these days. That group just became prejudiced, illogical, self-righteous, and stubborn, but I don't really believe that those are true Christian values.
