Anyone know anything about batteries?

Ok, so I found a potentially really cool and really helpful product. Basically, its a double A battery that can be recharged in a USB port. They can be charged like 500 times. It seems really cool($20 for a pair actually seems reasonable when you consider the 500 uses thing), but I want to make sure it is actually a good product. So, like the

Didn't they try rechargeable batteries before, like, several years ago and they sort of sucked? Technology probably improved greatly since then, though. Cell phones get recharged all the time and they run on batteries, but eventually you just can't recharge something anymore, even if it takes years. Everything eventually wears out.

Its cool, its lighter fare than your normal brand of "omg, everything sucks", so I didn't notice. Good catch on your own though.
