Hey Americans.

The federal marriage amendment comes before the Senate this week. Please write your senators. Tell them what you want.

I am disheartened by Ohio's particular law regarding this issue, but I'm afraid that the law was enacted legally. However, I am convinced that the federal marriage amendment is illegal. I cited the 9th and 10th

from all reports, the federal ammendment is destined for failure. it's a token attempt on the part of the right to placate their fundamentalist bigot base. i think that we're getting lucky in the fact that evangelicals are starting to feel like they're not supported by the republican party. if we're lucky, they'll decide to drop back out of the political process.

No, that won't happen. They know that they have to deal with one of the two major parties, and it's definitely not going to be the Democrats. They won't back out of politics at this point, and they know that if they go for a third party, they'll never get far because that would basically be handing Democrats victory, replaying the scenerio of Clinton's first win.

I wonder how long it will take for these bigots to realize they're being screwed with.

I'm convinced that the Republicans actually have no real interest in banning abortion or prohibiting anyone's lawful pursuit of happiness.

By leaving the conflict unresolved, they draw more and more into "the good fight." As long as it looks as if they're making progress it probably won’t arouse any suspicions.

If the Republicans would actually succeed in banning abortion, the "good fight" will move to poverty, which is actually something Jesus told people to fight.

Since the Republican party line is the very un-Christ like, "get a job you bum," the votes will go to the Democrats, who act like they're trying to help the poor.

I’m too young to be this cynical...

Damn, I'm cynical. :-D
