SO THE CHEAT CODE TO MAKE MORE LAYERITES ON THE OVERLAYER IS TO MAKE IMPRINTS OF PEOPLE ALREADY EXISTING IN IT. They are not exact copies physically or mentally, they are more of a reflection of everything the person wants/wishes to be. Obviously this has made a stereotype out of both sides and a kind of romanticism as the Science Wars continue and the fear of attack lessens.
By unforeseen and esoteric circumstances (those of which have never been understood enough to be recreated (this is mostly because i HAVEN'T REALLY A DAMN CLUE HOW IT MIGHT HAVE BUT IT DOES)) Dude X (otherwise actually known as Sillias Musto) manages to find a way to re-create these imprints on the other layers without combining them with consciousness from the Underlayer.
In a way this causes almost exact copies to run around on the same layer (ex, time-travellers existing at the same time, or an alternative version of oneself existing in the same plane) Except the consequences are simply a canceling out. Either the copy has to die in order to restore the original, or if too much time passes than the original and copy will start to 'phase out'. Sillias uses this circumstance in particular to make his source of living which is BEING A BIG FAT CON ARTIST
He only has one assistant, Dreier Tsarev (both are victim to Sovenas' plague which i still have not named nor sussed out the full implications of).
NOW THE MAIN REASON I WANTED TO DO THIS WAS BECAUSE OF ALLESANDRO OH BOY GET READY FOR THIS
So Sano hates herself more than anything else (and she hates alot of stuff a whole fuckin lot) and after her and Vis go through with the whole Descention bizz, ends up in one of these suck situations. However, Sillias does not realize that because she technically can't fade out like normal folks do in these situations, he is pretty much stuck in a perpetual cycle of creating copies of her, to keep her off him.
Though, to be honest, Sano loves killing these alternate versions of herself. Its a perfect crime free of consequences. So mostly Sano spends most of her time hunting down copies of herself and tearing them to tiny pieces with her own teeth. This also leaves her with opportunities to burn down whole suburbs and cause riots wherever she goes.
But, Sillias making money off of doing this was the main point. The crazy lady killing herself is a pleasant afterthought.
