The news needs to stop referring to the victims of the Hurricane as refugees.
They are fucking American citizens.

i went home sick for the weekend and only now that i'm home where my parents are always watching CNN did i realize the situation. i had no idea. i'm sorry, i had no idea. and i told my mom that i was hoping my college organized a donation of some sort. she said if they didn't, i should do it myself. and i gladly will. but i will lose so much respect for my school if they fail to recognize this. i'll get really angry. they can blow their cash on other things but this...needs attention. and the broke college student contingent has already explained they can't donate anything, but who said it had to be money? i'm saying.
again, you have always been someone who really encourages me to speak up despite the fact we don't know one another in person, and you have all my respect and props constantly. so thanks Amanda. the way you've done what you're doing, speaking out, has only made me do it more.

your comment really touched me. sometimes i feel that our generation is so out of touch with compassion and goodness but you always remind me that there are good people out there. you've gone through so much yet you remain so aware and thoughtful. you have the courage to pursue your passion for the arts and to me that is the ultimate example of an amazing character.
while we don't know each other in person i think some level you know me better people i've known for years.
you rock. remember that always.
