I am actually really excited to see his take on how they met.

Me too! I was always curious about their relationship "before".

Yeah, they already said something in another interview about showing them getting together, so that seemed to be the case then.

Annoying as hell to regress like that (they better end up married again, seriously), though I do kiiinda wanna see the 'getting together' phase, though yes, presumably their original origins are totally negated.

On a similar vein, it's highly unlikely that they'll be Jenny's parents, with that all being the case.

Agreed. Them not being Jenny's parents was one of my first thoughts, which is too bad as I really loved the daddies and daughter moments whenever they appeared.

Though I'm curious about what Apollo and Midnighter were like in the beginnings of their relationship, I'd much prefer to see it via flashbacks than to start from scratch. One of the things I really liked about Apollo and Midnighter was all the different phases they'd gone through together, from their initial training to living on the run, a brief period of retirement, then back to work in a team and taking on the roles of husbands and fathers with some shaky periods along the way. I'm also not keen on the idea of Apollo and Midnighter potentially having histories prior to their first meeting, but I guess we'll see what happens. If they do get married again, maybe we can have a better-drawn wedding scene!

(On a sidenote, I love your icon. Sylvia Ji is an amazing artist. Also, you have Yami no Matsuei colorbars in your profile!)

Absolutely! It's a shame to abolish all their history. Though I'm a little worried having seen this;

The Advocate: "Gay characters in mainstream comics are a growing minority, but gay characters in a long-term relationship are something we’ve rarely seen. Was there any concern at DC about incorporating a gay male couple with an established relationship into the superhero ranks ( ... )

Sad to say, what I took away from that quote was mainly a sense of relief that somebody was actually thinking about Apollo's character and personality. I agree it'd be a shame if it were written as a cliched split between Apollo being out-and-proud vs. Midnighter as repressed closet case, but honestly, for them to have given *some* thought to Apollo's character in isolation from his role as Midnighter's other half, is (for me) a reason to be cheerful. He's been written so thinly at times.

I guess I can't deny I've always wanted to see how their romantic relationship would've unfolded, although that was generally within the framework of their existing partnership...

I kinda like this, but what vejiicakes mentions was what I really wanted... I'll take what I can get.

I'm actually quite keen on this, having mulled it over. For one thing, it doesn't necessarily negate Wildstorm canon - we know they were both in Stormwatch at the same time, and got together then, but there's nothing to say that they both started out together from Day 1 in Stormwatch. Apollo *could* have been recruited/enhanced/whatever before Midnighter, or vice versa. Also, the whole 'how they met' angle is something people are interested in (the gap's been getting filled by fic for years) so it'd be quite nice to see a canon writer's take on it too. Obviously it all depends how it's written, but I don't yet have an objection in theory.

Also, I'm not too much of a DC reader these days, but I don't get the sense that there've been a lot of emerging, evolving-from-scratch gay relationships depicted in DC books before now. So there's that, too.
