I am at work, listening to a CD. My intern, asked me this question:

Is that Van Halen?

Funnily enough, I was listening to the Rites of Spring discography that I borrowed from Jeremy. Does my interns comment reflect his musical vocab (Exhibit A: favourite band - 311) or say something about po-faced kids taking themselves too seriously?

The Young Fires (name still in negotiation) played again at Parramatta Corps last night. We're still trying to sort out the line-up, with people not showing up, and others returning from holidays. We recorded the vox for our single on Wednesday. The parts sound great. Now it's up to Glenn to mix it. He's a great mixer, so I'm looking forward to the final result.
My singing is getting much stronger. I can let loose quite a bit more recently.

Caxton recorded the web version of our first album on Monday. I listened to the tracks today, and most of the parts tracked OK, just missing a flute, plus the overhead drum mike was really quiet. Need to do marimba soon.

We received our first positive comment on the Stump website for this year. It's another corker, and from someone I don't know.

I just took a sanity break from my research and watched Stars Wars, Ep 3. It made me think about Alison and I: I hope I will always lead her down roads she can follow, and that we don't drift apart.
Overall, a pretty lame movie.

After all this time, Alison is still my favourite person to talk about art with. We see a lot of things similarly, and she really does have a lot of insight into different art forms ( Read more... )
