turkey baby

Well, Thanksgiving and my birthday are over.

I made a scrumptious feast that dad dubbed my best ever. Turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy from scratch, yams, stuffing, I baked a pumpkin and a pecan pie, and of course the dreaded and much adored pumpkin rolls, fruit salad, corn and who knows what all else, it was a cooking/baking frenzy over here.

Bro came over with his roomie and we watched the game. Cowboys won (barely, but I'll take it), and I pretty much ate all flippin' night until it was time to take bro home. So, a great day.

Worked on my birthday, and since we pretty much celebrated it already, didn't do much last night. I brought home a pizza from one of my favorite places, and my free Starbucks drink, and dad and I watched POTC: On Stranger Tides, which is what he gave me for my birthday. He also bought me a new Cowboys jacket and I love it! It's like wearing a pillow, but in a totally good way. And it has a removable hood and zippy pockets and it's so warm and plush.

I missed having my double Thanksgiving and birthday with mom and Adam, but I called her on Turkey day and she had a good meal with my grandparents and aunt and uncle, so I'm glad they shared the holiday with them.

I was a little upset yesterday when mom didn't call for my birthday. She's never forgotten before, but this is also the first one when she's been far away so after waiting all day and not getting a call I got kind of sad.

I guess dad called her last night or this morning, and she called me this morning. She said she thought today was the 26th, and their power went out last night. Add to that crummy cell reception out where they're living and I can get why the call didn't make it. I was just happy to talk to her, and she said she sent me a letter so hopefully that'll come in the mail in the next day or so.

My bro also delivered belated birthday wishes tonight. He's promised to take me to go see The Muppets so I'm looking forward to that once we can work out our schedules as he's working again.

Now that Thanksgiving is over I am ready to face Christmas and very excited for it. I've got ideas for presents and things, and have been working on my fic prompts; all of which I'm excited about.

The year is almost over, and I'm determined to end it well.

just an update, mi familia, birfday-ness, football
