Lovely icons! And lovely subjects! W&D is the best and so is OMF. I've been seeing quite a lot of War and Peace icons lately, so I've been thinking about watching the series. Is it any good? Is it doable without sinking into a flood of tears?

Thank you so very much! :) Hmmm, War and Peace. I did a long-ish review for it here (http://thesilentwanderings.blogspot.com/2011/03/film-review-war-and-peace-2007.html), but are you familiar with the story or no? If not, there are quite a lot of spoilers, so you might not want to read it. Here is what I thought (spoiler free ( ... )

He, thanks for you extensive response! I'm no fan of either the book or the previous adaptations of the book, because I've not read nor watched them. I just wanted to diverge from English period drama somewhat and War and Peace found itself on my way. I've read a bit about it on Wikepedia and thought the story might be quite sad. I like all sorts of period drama, but I can't quite cope with the really depressing ones. I've watched the latest adaptation of Tess of the D'Urbervilles, but only because as a real period drama fan you should watch this at least ones, but I really have no desire to watch it again. I don't think I'll ever watch or read Jude the Obscure, knowing what I know of it. Not everything has to be happy-and-roses at the end of a period drama, but I want at least one character to get a moderately happy ending or some hope of one, you understand? I trust my knowledge of English period drama in picking out the ones I might like or not like, but my knowledge of anything outside that is very slim, so I'm a bit wary. But I ( ... )

No problem! :) I didn't realise my reply was so long until after I posted it. ^.^ I know what you mean- I like the happier endings as well, and War and Peace in general is one of those, especially this version. My brother said jokingly after we had finished watching it that the only thing more sad than a sad ending is a happy ending, because we want to see the characters go on and continue to be happy. Most of the main characters do get their happy endings, and overall it isn't a depressing story. It isn't like books such as the ones you mentioned, or even Wuthering Heights to an extent. =) I hope you enjoy it!

Beautiful work on these! I like the text on #19 -- "they just don't know it yet." There are SO many "bonnet drama" couples to whom that could apply. :D

Thank you! :D Hehe, yes! I'm glad the text made sense, after I made it I was looking at it and wondered if people would understand it. Therefore I am glad you did. ;-)
