Best men don’t sing at weddings, do they? They shouldn’t sing solos, anyway. People are trying to get me to sing a solo at my brother’s wedding! Seriously folks, I’m not soloist quality. =P I like to think I’m a good judge of these things

Sweetness. "Why does it seem like the most messed up people are the most open to hearing the gospel?" Why? Because they are looking to all those other things for fulfillment that can only come from God, and it is failing them, right? That is how it would be with me. Well, whatever...

=D It may turn out to be the opposite in this case. *Traditional wedding goes out the window* =P Actually I was at a wedding where the groom sang a solo! =O It was different.
It is sweet to share the gospel.

Good thought. It certainly is vain to find true fulfillment in places other than God. Those who have everything together and outwardly nice in their lives are more prone to believe their doing all right and feel self-sufficient, etc. But.. of course.. with God all things are possible. =)

it seems to me that the ones who are more well-to-do people have everything they need (so they say) and therefore don't need God where the more messed up ones always seem to be searching. Thats just an observation I've made from the years of "evangelising" i've done with Mom. =) Of course, that observation isn't always accurate.

You've been holding out on me! ;) You'll have to tell me about your experiences with sharing the gospel and what you learned from it all.
Right, they feel secure and contented (after a shallow fashion) from their wealth, I'd guess. Not many rich, mighty, wise, or noble are called the Bible teaches, so it's not a new thought. You might say I'm learning about it experientially now.

Actually, I've helped with handing out tracts in the past with our church, but this was the first time I went by myself of my own initiative. As you probably guessed, I felt it was well worth it and definitely plan on making it a habit. =) This poor lost guy got to hear more of the truth in one day than probably he's ever heard in his entire life before! Hopefully he'll be back. But if not, at least it seems that I just helped plant the seed in his heart, while another will water...
In the end, it's all in God's hands, which affords some comfort.

If you're new at witnessing, a great resource is www.wayofthemaster.com. We've been viewing some of their videos at our church, and they're so helpful for someone (like me!) who trembled at the thought of sharing their faith.
Their "method" of sharing the gospel is effective because it takes people back to the ten commandments (God's law) to point out their need for a Savior. People can't truly repent until they acknowledge that their sin displeases God.

My experience with direct in-person witnessing is rather limited, I'm sad to say. If I don't make more opportunities, I think it would remain that way. Some was done while in college talking to fellow students and some through church ministry, but that's nearly it ( ... )
