So it took me a while, but I think I realized why I've been down in the dumps so much lately. After some thought, I realized that I really don't have any friends who are generally nice people. In fact, I don't know anyone who is a generally nice person. It's so cool these days to be the passive-aggressive with such dry wit that everyone does it,

As far as being a good person goes, we've managed to build for ourselves a society that takes everything for granted and just doesn't give a damn anymore. The good and just person has gone from the norm to the minority in the space of a few decades.

I dunno, I'm nice to everyone, because I can't stand to be the bitter person I used to be. I keep my acerbic wit sheathed and reserved for elite douchebags.

Your good deeds shall not be appreciated like they should. Do them still. One day they will.
I try to be nice to people around me and have surrounded myself with people who are generally nice. Maybe you could try to look for a different crowd for a while, a change of scenery. If that fails in the states then maybe take a month in Peru, we're cool! Otherwise, hold fast hope.
