I think I'm not going to be drawing much Naruto as of late or writing much of it anymore, aside from a
few of my favorites here and there. I still <3 ItaSasu and ItaSaku, and Oro and Kakashi, but the series
itself has lost interest to me awhile ago. I had been talking to my husband about it not long ago, and
I love RPing Itachi and I love writing the version of him for KO, I just don't enjoy the manga itself
since pretty much, the Pain Arc. Why? Few reasons. No particular order...
1. The loss of all my favorite characters practically, aside from Kakashi (Since he didn't die way back
when). Orochimaru and Itachi were the two I loved, and well...Kishi just hasn't made me, even after all
this time, really care much about what happens to the others. I like Hinata, I like Sakura, I like
Sasuke, and I like Naruto, Shika, Neji, etc...but he just hasn't had a really upstanding villain in the
series. And sadly, villains are who I usually like best and keep me reading. Madara at best reminds me
of a old man with world domination issues and doesn't seem so scary as more...needs to be put in a home
for old crazy people.
2. I'm so tired of the flashbacks and the cutting to new ninja I don't really give a crap about so I
can listen to their back stories. I don't care. It seems like bad story telling in hopes of maybe A)
prolonging the series and B) Trying to throw more characters at people in hopes they'll find one of
these to identify with. I'm tired of things being called "So and So fight" only to have it be mostly
two other people I don't care about and one panel about the characters I do.
3. I don't see where the series is going. I think Kishi's backed himself into a corner in that a
complete happy ending will leave the fans feeling cheated and a melodramatic ending with Sasuke or
Naruto will seem lack luster because so much time has been spent on these other characters. One of the
biggest rules in writing is to never give back stories unless vital to the plot or the character
involved, and even then...show don't tell. He doesn't really do that with his flashbacks. He pretty
much goes, "Here's this character's backstory and why you should care about them."
4. I think the title of the series should be changed from Naruto. We hardly see the main character
anymore. Hell, can't even blame Sasuke now either cause Sasu's not in it either. (And I actually like
Sasuke too)
Anywho, those are my four big beefs with the series (manga). I don't really watch the anime much
anymore aside from the boxsets as they come out here. After reading a bunch of other books lately and
playing other games, there are just some things that are so much better written than Naruto is anymore.
And I think what's disappointing, is that it had the potential to be pretty awesome. But I think I'm
done with the manga unless something seriously changes, which I'll be surprised if it does, and I think
I'm done drawing/writing anything for Naruto that isn't blatant fan fiction (ItaSaku for example).
And even then, I have beefs with the fiction world in both Naruto and my unholy love of Dragon Age.
lol. Fenris art will start showing up here soon I think.
On another note, I don't understand blatant hatred by fans. I think this is something I've never really
understood, no matter the fandom. And I suppose, that's my biggest beef with the yaoi culture, as they
seem to be the ones doing it more than any others I've seen (And again, from what I've seen in the
fandom's I've been in, I dunno about ones I'm not in. And I'm also not saying that fans of hentai, or
yuri aren't like that either, I've just seen the majority come from yaoi fans).
For example, I don't understand the hatred for Fenris with a F!Hawke or Isabella. I also don't
understand hating Isabella just because if you don't romance her or Fenris the pair of them hook up. I
like Isabella, she's fiesty and usually the type of char I love playing. I also don't get how some fans
keep going off on how Fenris shouldn't be paired with a female, when he pairs with Isabella if you
don't romance her or him. ANDERS is the one who was with the guy, Karl....yet somehow he's magically
the uber straight one? People, you confuse me. And your logic fails.
S'one of the main reasons I guess I've always refused to jump onboard the pairing train. And what the
hell is with everyone making every male character in any fandom gay? I don't get it. In real life it
doesn't work that way. Some make sense, but some....just don't and seem thrown together just for the
sake of athestics. Even then I've had people trying to argue to me the canon validity of the pairing.
Nothing else gets me disliking a pairing more than that.
Are you the author?
If you are not, then the pairing in your head isn't canon.
Learn to deal with reality. The video game/anime/manga character will not jump out of the screen/pages and be with you. No matter how awesome you think you are.
-end rant-
On another note, I like pokemon. XD
