So my last post was on June 17th. I updated about Warped Tour. Wow. Where the fuck has time gone? It's the first of November. Well tomorrow is Kyle's and mine one year anniversary. I'm excited. I'm on duty so I can't leave the building, but we are going out Friday night. Oh, by the way I'm and RA this year. To back track a little bit I only spent ( Read more... )

I absolutely detest the fucking fact that I was Rebah in You Can’t Take It With You. I would love to have been Penny.
um, sorry?

Sorry if you took that the wrong way. I'm talking about the show in general, not the CHS cast. My favorite character in the show is Penny. I hated the fact that I was type cast because I was black. Kimball knew he was going to put me in that role before I even auditioned. I'm just tired of being cast because of my race opposed to my talent. Sorry if you misinterpreted that.

i would say yes, you were typecasted. but honestly, kimball doesn't precast things, ever. he and i talked a lot about it before auditions and we talked about making reba and donald not stereotypically black. i really don't think he precast you, he's more open minded than that.

Well lets hope so. I think you're missing the point though. The overall theme of this entry was that I hate playing those type of roles and that I need to find something that's right for me. That's where the whole writing bit came in.

You should try to get your school to do something by Charles Mee. He doesn't believe in limiting casts based on race or physical handicap or anything like that. He says so on his site. His plays are really funny too, in a weird way.

I understand what you mean about typecasting. Since I'm not skinny and blonde, I probably won't ever be a romantic lead, or any type of lead. Although, I can change my hair color and (try to) change my body type, and you can't really change your race. So, I guess I might not be going through the same thing, but I'm sympathetic at least. I think it's really fucked up that that happens. The world isn't all white, so why should plays be presented as such?

I think you'll be great in whatever you choose to do, whether it's directing or acting or something completely different, like beekeeping, so just do what you think is right for you.

Dude, Liev Schreiber was creepy as hell in The Manchurian Candidate.

Since I've only met Ron Livingston -- you win. You have met cooler actors than me.

But Davey Havok still stepped on my head.
