I had the strangest experience yesterday at the mall involving a hat and an ancient French woman :)

That's a bit beyond the pale in what's even remotely acceptable commentary on a stranger's shopping choices. Yipes. If she was your grandmother, ok. If she was your grandmother's dotty friend, maybe. A total stranger, insulting your hat? Moments after someone else complimented the very same hat? Weird. I'd say go buy the hat and batty French ladies be damned.
